Panic in the Baita Alpini in Lizzola, in the province of Bergamo, where the firefighters of the S.A.F. (Speleo Alpino Fluviale) unit of the Bergamo command intervened to rescue people.
Due to the swelling of a mountain stream, four hundred children were trapped in a mountain hut. The firefighters, together with the technicians of the CNSAS, intervened on the scene.
The rescuers waited for the water level to decrease and then placed ropes to allow safe passage. The young people are escorted in groups of four by the rescuers to the other side of the shore.
The operations are still ongoing. No injuries have been reported.
