The arrest at the dealership
Theft from vending machines, a man arrested for aggravated theft. Around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, a patrol of carabinieri from the Saronno Carabinieri Company, passing near a well-known car dealership in the city of amaretti, noticed that the front door was left open. Stopping to check more closely, the soldiers saw a man hurriedly coming out, carrying a black backpack. At the sight of the carabinieri, the man immediately fled, using a bicycle that he had left near the dealership fence. A chase ensued until the fugitive abandoned the bicycle to try to escape on foot but, after a few hundred meters, he was caught and immobilized by the soldiers and identified: he is a 38-year-old homeless man.
Burglary tools in the backpack
During the search, burglary tools were found inside the backpack, including various sizes of screwdrivers, crowbars, and a cutter, as well as about 200 euros in small coins or banknotes. The carabinieri’s inspection inside the dealership then confirmed that the man had forced the front door and then headed towards the vending machines where he had broken open the money container to steal its contents.
