SARONNO – “Until now, the 5-star movement of Saronno has not intervened in response to the situation that has arisen as a result of the strong anomalous rainfall that has affected the entire territory of Saronno, understanding that in such a complex moment with damage to both public and private structures, with numerous emergency interventions and continuous flooding in the usual places in the city, with fallen trees (which fortunately did not cause physical harm to citizens), it would have been useless to focus on administrative responsibilities.”
This is how the note from the Saronno 5-star movement begins, outlining the situation regarding bad weather and damage.
“Now, however, several days after these events, we would like to highlight the total lack of ordinary services (such as street cleaning) in the neighborhoods surrounding the city center, a problem that has already been brought to the attention of many citizens and political forces in recent days. Yesterday, Monday, July 31, in the Cassina Ferrara neighborhood, particularly in the area of the Damiano Chiesa school, street cleaning was supposed to take place using mechanical sweepers, something that did not happen for the second consecutive Monday. Some spontaneous reflections arise: has the street cleaning service in these areas been suspended? If suspended, why was it not communicated to residents? If the service is still active, why has no one in charge prompted its implementation? In the event of a failure to provide the service, have the prescribed sanctions been applied?
As mentioned earlier, we understand the difficulties related to the emergency, but it is at least anomalous that ordinary services cannot be guaranteed, remaining, as usual, in absolute silence. The Environment Councilor Casali, so prompt regarding Via Roma and the cycle path that he holds so dear, why is he absent in this situation? It is unacceptable that Mayor Airoldi has not yet intervened in the face of such incapacity and incompetence, considering what has happened in the recent past. The attitude of the political forces that support this majority and have chosen to look and remain silent is tiresome, not to mention the communication staff, handsomely paid by the citizens of Saronno, who do not inform or interact with the public, like a perpetually switched-off and therefore useless switch.
We attach photographic evidence to document the situation and better understand the conditions of the roads, drains, and vents that allow the flow of water.”
