Malnate (Varese) – Sergio Domenichini has always denied any responsibility. However, his DNA was found by the carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Varese (and compared by the Ris of Parma) under the nail of Carmela Fabozzi, a 73-year-old retiree who was killed in her home in Malnate (Varese) on July 22, 2022. This is what emerged today during the hearing before the Court of Assizes presided over by Cesare Tacconi.
Domenichini, 67 years old, with several previous convictions (last week he was sentenced to seven years by the Varese Court for aggravated robbery), was arrested a month after the crime. According to the accusation, he is the murderer of the 73-year-old woman, even though, as mentioned, he has always declared himself innocent.
The defendant and the 73-year-old woman knew each other: they both attended the same volunteer association. For the Varese Prosecutor’s Office, however, the 67-year-old’s involvement was not charity towards others; the association’s involvement was aimed at finding potential victims to rob. According to the investigators’ reconstruction, Domenichini would have visited Fabozzi’s house for the first time, hitting her nine times in the head with a blunt object and killing her. He then returned a few hours later, making himself noticed by the neighbors to create an alibi. According to the accusation, Domenichini killed to obtain money for his vacation. After the murder, the man went to the seaside until August 17, leaving the hotel without paying the bill. On August 20, he was arrested as soon as he returned to Varese.
