VARESE – Asst Sette Laghi is investing in new staff training, as well as in video surveillance systems, police officers, and a constant security service to ensure the safety of its healthcare workers. “The phenomenon of violence is growing worryingly,” the company said. “Healthcare facilities are increasingly implementing actions to contain and mitigate the effects of this risk.”
The training course
Among the main measures, Asst has chosen to focus on staff training. Initiatives in this area will culminate in the course “Prevention and management of acts of violence against healthcare and social workers”, which will take place on Friday, December 6 in the auditorium of the University of Insubria. On this occasion, the new application “Incident Reporting HermLomb”, promoted by the Lombardy Region, will also be presented, allowing for the reporting of aggressive acts and improving the quality and quantity of reports.
“The initiative is an integral part of our company’s broader safety program,” explained Maristella Moscheni, director of Quality, Risk Management, and Accreditation. “Employee participation in the course is important, as it represents a fundamental opportunity for discussion to build a more peaceful and effective work environment together.” The objectives of this training are many: promoting a policy of preventing the phenomenon, offering psychological and healthcare support, and legal protection; as well as implementing measures to reduce the risk.
Continuous surveillance
But the news introduced by the company in terms of security does not stop there. A very recent example, the first in Italy, was the installation of video surveillance systems connected to the police headquarters in the Emergency Departments. It is also worth noting the presence of State Police officers and a Local Police officer at the Varese Emergency Department, as well as an active security service in all the company’s hospitals.
