LONATE POZZOLO – “The oratory of Tornavento, now unused, has been sold to invest in the nursery school of the village.” A project “of certain value”, but it means that “there will no longer be a youth aggregation center except for some bars, restaurants, and breweries.” The minority group “I cittadini per i cittadini” describes the “disturbing scenario” found in the village of Lonate Pozzolo. Now, instead of the oratory, a bed and breakfast and an outdoor area for families should be built.
The premise
“For some years now, the Church has been talking about economic projects. With sales and acquisitions to restore their worn-out coffers.” This is the premise behind the sale of the oratory, as stated in a note by the group led by Tiziano Bonini (“Here we apologize for not having participated in the pastoral meetings that have taken place in recent years”). But now what will happen? “The die is cast: the oratory has been sold to invest in the nursery school of the village. We would have invested, for example, in a new nursing home, since we already have enough nurseries in the municipal area.” And even though it is considered a “project of certain value”, criticisms abound: “Too bad that both works – the oratory and the nursery school – have been donated for completely different purposes. The first by the people of Lonate, the second by Mr. Parravicini.”
A B&B is coming
Jabs are also directed at the municipal administration: “It seems incredible to us that the dialogue of these years has not led to anything. Except for this act of vandalism.” This is because “in Tornavento there will no longer be a youth aggregation center, except for some bars, restaurants, and breweries.” And furthermore: “Instead of investing for the community, the municipal administration is choosing to recover money from Tari and Imu from the new owners.” In other words, “we have been told that a B&B and an outdoor area for families should be built.”
The “Citizens” say No
“I cittadini per i cittadini” state it clearly: “We completely disagree with what is happening. We believe that other ways could have been found to revive the structure, for example with targeted investments, even by private individuals. And public aid with some “trickery”.” Furthermore: “On our part, we will oppose and do everything possible to prevent this from happening, as we did to prevent the construction of Zarina and the Malpensa Masterplan. And, given the results obtained, we do not see everything as rosy for the alleged new owners of our oratory.” Hence the guarantee that “we will access the documents, check the plots and measurements, ascertain the intended use and verify the environmental parameters.”
