Antonio Ingroia, ex magistrate, journalist, and politician, will be the legal representative of the Municipality of Senago in the trial against Alessandro Impagnatiello, the confessed murderer of Giulia Tramontano. Before the summer, the Beretta administration announced that the city of Senago would join as a civil party to protect its image after the tragic events of May 27, when Impagnatiello fatally stabbed the young woman who was 7 months pregnant. Now, the call for expressions of interest for voluntary legal assistance has closed: lawyer Ingroia has decided to assist the Municipality in this trial, which promises to be one of the most debated and certainly with a huge media echo.
The mayor of Senago: “With Ingroia, the best solution has been chosen”
“The commission responsible for evaluating the applications received by early September – the mayor Beretta limits himself to commenting – has chosen the best solution. We hope that the procedural truth will emerge from this ugly affair and that justice will be served, also in reference to a municipality like Senago, populated by young families, with a decidedly high quality of life, who do not want to be associated with other municipalities that have unfortunately been the scene of similar tragedies in recent years. Novi Ligure, Cogne, Avetrana, which have long been identified with the acts of violence that occasionally occurred within their geographical boundaries. This is precisely the objective of Senago’s decision to join as a civil party against the femicide in Via Novella: to reaffirm, also through a request for compensation, that the majority of the Senago community is composed of healthy and hardworking people,” as Magda Beretta herself has repeatedly stated after the events, along with all the members of the municipal administration and local associations.
Senago: Ingroia, former anti-mafia prosecutor
Antonio Ingroia served as a public prosecutor for the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor’s Office from 1993, alongside Giancarlo Caselli, and dealt with many cases in the fight against organized crime after the events of Capaci and Via D’Amelio. He was a party in the Andreotti trial from 1993 to 2003. Among other assignments, in addition to his political activities, he defended the actress Gina Lollobrigida in her legal affairs, in which she was involved, and was in Guatemala to lead a UN-sanctioned investigation unit for the fight against drug trafficking.
