Maggiolini and Cavalleri still without electricity and in the cold. This morning, November 20th, another malfunction occurred in the control unit that serves both high schools. It had already happened last Monday, after two days of shutdown, and this is the third time that the two schools have suffered from this inconvenience since the beginning of the new school year.

Compared to last week, temperatures were around 15 degrees in all classrooms and the external lighting in the early hours of the morning was poor. For this reason, the principal of Cavalleri high school decided to suspend classes: at 7:45 am a communication was sent to inform students and families. “Not knowing the intervention time of the technicians, and not having the visibility conditions, I decided to suspend classes for safety reasons,” explains the school principal, Simone Finotti. “Winter is approaching and we cannot continue under these conditions. At this point, I do not exclude legal actions against the Metropolitan City to ensure a constitutionally guaranteed service.”

The Maggiolini students, on the other hand, remained outside the school waiting for communications and, once invited to enter, gathered at the entrance of the Institute protesting against the malfunction. “To avoid these inconveniences, we ask that the system remains on, at low temperatures, over the weekend to avoid shutdowns on Monday mornings,” say the students. Principal Pasquale Morea welcomed them in the conference room where they listened to the phone call with the technician from the Metropolitan City.

The problem could be related to a malfunction of the transformers in the power unit: they overheat and, for safety reasons, they go into a block state. The malfunction always occurs on Mondays. The technicians are therefore evaluating how to intervene, but the timing is unknown. The principal of Maggiolini high school has urged for a more efficient and immediate intervention as the situation is becoming intolerable and the students need answers.
