La tragica morte di Stefania: il mistero di Milano

Milano, 4 dicembre 2023 – “They took my life, they took everything from me. Those who made a mistake will pay.” Michele Valerio Sibillo, Stefania’s partner, cries desperately.
Was it a complex nose surgery?
“They told us it would last 45 minutes, but then it took 2 hours.”
Why did you choose a private clinic in Milan? Was it a cosmetic surgery?
“No, it was a functional surgery. She had to fix her nasal septum and turbinates, and she was happy to be able to breathe again because Stefania had an accident when she was 10 years old and had a fractured septum.”
So, the surgery seemed to have gone well?
“Yes. After 4 hours, she was discharged, and we went back to the hotel. We had lunch and dinner at the same place for two days. We joked and celebrated because she had finally achieved her dream. To be able to breathe well again.”
What happened on Thursday morning then?
“We packed our bags and were leaving the hotel. I was walking ahead, and she was following me. She called me. ‘Darling, you forgot your slippers,’ then she collapsed in the hallway. I tried to resuscitate her, I gave her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. She recovered for a moment, and then the ambulances arrived. In a few minutes, three crews arrived and continued the resuscitation maneuvers, keeping her on the ground for another 20 minutes.”
What happened after the rush to the hospital?
“They continued with resuscitation maneuvers, tried to irrigate her heart, performed some procedures, and after about an hour and 40 minutes, they discovered that she had blood clots and that it was an embolism. There was nothing more they could do.”
As far as you know, was she given the anticoagulant medication?
“No. I personally asked the doctor, and he told me that heparin was not necessary.”
Did you notice anything strange after the surgery?
“She chose this clinic because she didn’t want to be intubated, she was afraid of anesthesia. However, she told me that she felt a burning sensation in her throat. I asked the medical staff about the reason, and they told me that it was normal to feel this discomfort, even though she wasn’t intubated.”
Did Stefania have any particular physical problems?
“No, she was an athlete, she participated in running races and took great care of herself. She had regular medical check-ups and followed a careful diet. She was in excellent health.”
Besides work and sports, did she have any other commitments?
“She was a very prepared woman, she took care of everything, and she did it with great attention. That’s why the mayor of San Benedetto wanted her in his personal secretariat. She was also very attentive to her family. She closely followed her father and mother.”
Have you and your family filed a complaint?
“Yes, we filed a complaint with the Carabinieri in Milan, and we have appointed a trusted lawyer. The family will also be represented by a forensic doctor during the autopsy. We want to fully understand what happened and, if necessary, if someone made a mistake. They took Stefania away from me, my life. This is impossible to bear.”
