Odyssey of Three Foreign Girls: Flight Canceled on the Way to Lithuania
COMO – They came to Italy from Eastern Europe to attend a wedding on Lake Como. Yesterday afternoon, they were in for an unpleasant surprise: their flight to Vilnius, Lithuania was canceled at Malpensa airport. Thus began an odyssey for three foreign girls, which also turned into a financial burden. Since they couldn’t wait indefinitely due to family and work commitments, they ended up buying new airline tickets that will finally take them back to the Lithuanian capital, albeit with a convoluted route that includes several layovers and even a bus journey. Hopefully, there won’t be any further delays by tonight.
This case reminds us of the recent experience of the Italian softball team, who were heading to the Canada Cup in Vancouver. Eventually, they arrived with a significant delay, actually the next day. They too had to endure a series of layovers after the cancellation of their original flight, also from Malpensa.
