Alessandro Maja, 57 years old, has been sentenced this afternoon to life imprisonment with 18 months of daytime isolation by the Court of Assizes of Busto Arsizio (Varese), for the double murder of his 16-year-old daughter Giulia and his 56-year-old wife Stefania Pivetta, and for the attempted murder of his eldest son Nicolò, who were struck with a hammer on the night between May 3rd and 4th, 2022, in their villa in Samarate (Varese). The verdict came after 5 hours of deliberation. Nicolò, 21 years old and the only survivor, was present in the courtroom. The prosecution had requested life imprisonment and 18 months of isolation, while the defense argued for general extenuating circumstances and the recognition of partial mental illness.
