MALPENSA – Insults against the Draghi Government despite the presence of a child on board. And then the absolute ban on opening the rear window to take a breath of air while driving at 160 kilometers per hour on the highway. Finally, once arrived at the destination and after finishing to rant against the customers on board, the taxi driver communicated that he had no working POS machine despite the obligation to accept payments with a debit card. It was a nightmare ride experienced by a family on the Malpensa-Milan route. After filing a complaint, they obtained a disciplinary measure against the driver.

Until the Administrative Court

Obtaining justice was not easy at all. As reported in detail by Il Giorno, the ride dates back exactly one year ago, but the regional disciplinary committee only met in October, suspending the taxi driver’s license for 7 days. On October 18, the Municipality of Milan issued the measure, immediately appealed by the taxi driver for lack of competence. The case reached the Administrative Court, which recently established that the applied sanction is not “manifestly unreasonable, illogical, blatantly incongruous or abnormal to justify its annulment”.

The precedent

The driver was accused of violating articles 40 and 44 of the “Regulation of the Lombard airport taxi service traffic basin”, in particular regarding the obligation to “always behave correctly towards users”. A similar precedent occurred in 2017 when one of his colleagues refused to pick up two elderly disabled residents of Cardano al Campo in front of Terminal 2 at Malpensa. The ride was too short, the earnings too meager. So he left them on the sidewalk, together with their daughter, in the late hours of the night. His license was suspended for 30 days.
