GALLARATE – Anas has awarded the temporary consortium of companies Rizzani De Eccher – Manelli Impresa – Sacaim the construction works of the so-called “Gallarate bypass”, from the intersection with the 336 (km 6.500) to the exit of the A8 motorway (km 8.844). The tender outcome was published today, August 11th, in the Official Gazette.
The route
The intervention, with a total amount of €161.5 million, constitutes the Second Functional Section of the broader construction work of the new axis between Samarate and the border with the Province of Novara, which will connect Malpensa Airport to the exits of the A8 motorway and the Pedemontana Lombarda A36, with undeniable advantages in terms of reduced travel times and improved safety for circulation. The main axis of the Gallarate bypass extends for 2.3 km starting from the existing exit of the 336 state road, continues eastwards to the junction between the A8 and A36, affecting the municipalities of Gallarate, Busto Arsizio, and Cassano Magnago, in the province of Varese.
Three years of work
The intervention includes 3 staggered level exits: the first connects with the 336 state road in the municipality of Gallarate, the second corresponds to the HUPAC intermodal terminal, and the last, at the end of the route, connects with the A8/A36 exit in the municipality of Cassano Magnago. The road layout will be characterized by viaduct sections for a length of approximately 1 km, trenches for 400 meters, a tunnel for 82 meters, and embankments for the remaining part. The road section to be built corresponds to category “B” consisting of two carriageways, each with two lanes of traffic, with a road platform width of 22 meters. The execution of the intervention is expected to take 1182 days from the date of delivery of the works, which is still being defined.
