Monza: Foa Boccaccio rioccupies, already two events announced for October
Via Val d’Ossola 4, San Rocco. Here is the new address in Monza of Foa Boccaccio 003: the antagonists made it known in the late afternoon of Thursday, September 21 with a post on social media and on the website.
“Today we have taken a new home,” they write, and that something was moving was clear already for a couple of weeks, after the announcement of two new initiatives that were supposed to take place, precisely, at the new “Foa Boccaccio 003” – an evening in support of the campaigns for the liberation of Palestinian political prisoners on Saturday, the 23rd, and the second appointment of a festival, the B2M, organized “together with the Tripity Kollektiv of Bern and some collectives from Berlin” scheduled for October 7 and 8.
Monza: Foa Boccaccio reoccupies, it is an old industrial building
There is no shortage of disused areas and buildings to occupy in the city (and there never have been): it is difficult to imagine where they were moving. In the end, the choice fell on an old industrial building, on whose gate now stands, in large white letters on a black background, a declaration of intent: “We have no more space to lose. Boccaccio is untouchable.”
In the closed street of San Rocco, there is now a coming and going of antagonists and law enforcement forces. “We take our spaces and time together to self-organize, sharing needs and dreams,” they write online, determined not to “make deals with this city and even more so with this government that does not consider us decent, that gives birth to security and discriminatory policies. As we have been for twenty years, we will be their annoying thorn in their side.”
Monza: Foa Boccaccio reoccupies, evicted in early August from via Timavo after two years
After two years of illegal occupation in via Timavo 12, the social center was evicted from private property at dawn on August 1st. For a few weeks, there was silence about the activities of Boccaccio, but a new occupation had been announced from the beginning: “We have chosen not to succumb to resignation or to yield to the logic of profit of a city that is increasingly like a showcase for the use and consumption of tourists and the rich, therefore inaccessible to many people who live and pass through it.” Now the antagonists are ready to “fight” and to “ally with other bodies to build the city we want: we are waiting immediately in via Val D’Ossola 4 for those who want to support us and sink new roots with us in this occupation”.
