Violence
The man was already burdened by the restraining order. Arrested by the carabinieri, he is now under house arrest.
Despite being subject to a restraining order from his ex-girlfriend for a previous stalking incident, on Friday he reached the woman’s workplace in Ponte di Legno and when he saw her, he started insulting and threatening her.
The frightened woman immediately called 112, prompting the intervention of the carabinieri. Despite her fear, she explained to the military officers at the Ponte di Legno station what had happened, providing a description of the man with whom she had ended a relationship some time ago. The decision to end the relationship had never been accepted by the man, who thus began to bother her with increasing persistence.
After ensuring the woman’s safety, the carabinieri, after collecting her testimony and conducting a brief search, identified the man, a 40-year-old Italian resident in the high Valcamonica area. The 40-year-old was then arrested for violating the precautionary measure previously issued against him by the judicial authority. Yesterday morning, the man was taken to court for an immediate trial. The judge, after validating the arrest that had taken place a few hours earlier, applied (for the time being) house arrest against the 40-year-old, pending the next hearing. The immediate trial was therefore adjourned to next January for further proceedings.
