SARONNO – “With reference to the recent events at the Saronno hospital, Asst Valle Olona is available to the authorities to clarify what happened, strongly condemning the actions that have damaged the institution’s image and the protection of patients. The activities of the department are already being reorganized in order to avoid inconvenience to users.” This is the statement released by Asst Valle Olona after the operation carried out by the finance police of Varese, who executed a measure to prohibit a gynecologist from practicing medicine at the Saronno hospital for one year, and seized assets worth about 70,000 euros, as ordered by the Court of Busto Arsizio. The investigations by the financial police began with a report from a medical director who had received a report from a nurse who had noticed some procedural anomalies in the “pap tests” carried out at the gynecology clinic. The investigations carried out by the finance police of the Saronno company, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Busto Arsizio, allowed, after accurate and scrupulous checks, including the acquisition of the prescriptions filled out by the doctor and the comparison with the hospital’s appointment bookings and the documents issued as a result of in-house activities, to report the head of department for the crimes of aggravated fraud against the State and embezzlement. The gynecologist will also have to answer for the crime of embezzlement, as he used materials and equipment purchased by the public hospital for the aforementioned visits.
