SARONNO – A Saronno is in need of additional police presence, and therefore the Region supports the request of the Prefecture sent to the Ministry for a Polfer station at the city’s amaretti station, also in view of the renovation that the Cadorna square station will undergo as part of the Fili project. This morning, the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety was held at the Prefecture in Varese, convened by the Prefect of Varese, Salvatore Pasquariello, where Saronno received the support of the Lombardy Region for the request of Polfer at the station. At the moment, however, there seem to be no certainties or defined timeframes for the arrival of the station. THE TEXT SENT BY THE PREFECT TO THE MINISTRY WITH THE REQUEST FOR POLFER IN SARONNO And it is to the Prefect that the thanks of Attilio Fontana, Governor of the Lombardy Region, went. In an Ansa news release, he explains the position of the Region. “Certainly, the Saronno junction needs an additional police presence that can provide greater security for those who use this important junction. The interventions that are about to be carried out with the Fili project involve the entire railway line from Milan to Malpensa, including Saronno. It will be important to have a safer station, so the Region applauds this initiative and hopes that the Ministry can accept this request to position a Polfer station.” The mayor Augusto Airoldi was also present, who, always speaking to Ansa, stated: “Saronno is one of the most important stations in Lombardy, it would be truly incredible if it were not up to its role in terms of security for railway transport and for the city itself. We are grateful for this initiative. Over 600 trains pass through the station every day with almost 30,000 daily passengers. A fixed station would be of great help both for the people of Saronno and for those who frequent the station.”
