BUSTO ARSIZIO – Stop to “littering” on the SP20 that connects Busto Arsizio to Cassano Magnago: thanks to an agreement with the Province of Varese and the Lombardy Region, three phototraps will be installed on the stretch of road in Busto Arsizio, with the aim of preventing the phenomenon of waste abandonment along the roads. The placement of the mobile cameras will take place in these days, by January 15th.
The project
The council, on the proposal of the councilor for mobility Salvatore Loschiavo (in the photo), today, January 10th, approved the collaboration agreement with the Province of Varese for the ecological redevelopment and prevention of waste abandonment on a stretch of the SP 20, a provincial road identified as a pilot area by the Lombardy Region. “The abandonment of waste is an odious phenomenon – emphasizes councilor Loschiavo – for a matter of decorum but also of safety for those who travel on the roads. Attention to this issue is already high, and there are already phototraps in several points of the city, but this agreement will help us monitor the more peripheral areas, more subject to the phenomenon of “littering”.
The equipment
The three phototraps – “Trap Car” model – are provided by the Province of Varese and financed by the Lombardy Region (with a contribution of 16 thousand euros) based on a protocol between the Region, UPI and ANCI. Busto has joined the project of the Province together with other municipalities in the area. They will become part of the instrumental assets of the Local Police Command of Busto Arsizio, which aims to identify and sanction offenders who abandon waste in the affected areas. The municipal administration will only have to bear the costs of managing and maintaining the phototraps.
