SARONNO – “In Saronno, the security situation is not taken into consideration by the Airoldi administration. The League is grateful to the Government for allocating an additional ten soldiers for the Operation Safe Streets in our provincial territory.” This is how the note from the Saronno League begins, addressing the issue of security.
Mayor Augusto Airoldi must take responsibility to ensure that the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, of which he is a part along with the other mayors of the four largest cities in the Province, chooses to utilize the 28 members of the Armed Forces throughout the provincial territory, particularly in the four largest cities, including Saronno.
The presence at the international airport of Malpensa is certainly strategic in the fight against terrorism, but so is Saronno, which has a strategically important train station, the main hub between Milan and Malpensa. Almost 190,000 people pass through the station every week.
Furthermore, we ask Mayor Airoldi to request the intervention of the Carabinieri’s special forces, made available by the Government and highly requested by the other mayors of the province of Varese to combat drug trafficking in the woods. Numerous requests for intervention in this regard have also been made by the residents of Cascina Colombara, besieged by drug dealers and ignored until now by Mayor Airoldi.
The security situation in Saronno has worsened after the brawls that took place in the city center on Via Padre Monti, Via Colombo, and Corso Italia. The silence of the mayor and his administration is no longer tolerable. The promises to take a strong stance have proven to be nothing more than electoral bluff.
